At the collection of the vehicle Cape Town Campers will require the hirer to sign a rental agreement. By signing this agreement, the hirer accepts that they have read and understood these full terms and conditions and that they are personally liable as hirer under that agreement.
All financial transactions are calculated and conducted in ZAR (unless otherwise agreed). Fluctuations in exchange rates can cause variations before or during the hire period. Cape Town Campers accepts no responsibility for any variances.

Deposit: In order to secure an advance booking for a Cape Town Camper, a pre-payment fee of 50% of the total rental cost will be debited from the driver's provided credit card when the booking is confirmed. Embossed Visa and Mastercard credit cards only may be used as payment for your deposit.
Rental Balance Payment: Unless stated otherwise in writing the remaining rental balance (50%) will be paid one week before the vehicle pick-up date.
Excess Authorisation: When making your booking, please use the embossed credit card details (Visa or Mastercard) you will present when picking up your vehicle. On rental start date an authorisation will be held on your credit card for the applicable excess amount.
This hold will be released within 5 working days (South Africa) or 7 working days (all other locations) once the vehicle has been safely returned and checked for damage.
Vehicle Return: On return of the vehicle and when your final invoice has been calculated, any amounts due to Cape Town Campers will be charged to your credit card including refuel of the vehicle. You are also responsible to pay any toll charges and traffic fines that you may incur.
Standard Cover (included)
Standard cover is included in the daily rate. In the event of any damage to either a Cape Town Camper vehicle or third party vehicle / property, the hirer will be liable for the first R50,000.
Note: hirer is fully responsible for replacement or repair of windscreen and / or radio, all tyre damage and interior furnishings damage and/or loss
Extra Cover (see price list for details)
In the event of any damage to either a Cape Town Camper vehicle or third party vehicle / property, the hirer will be liable for the first R25,000.

EXCLUSIONS
As a summary the hirer will be fully liable for any damage to the Cape Town Camper vehicle or third party vehicle and / or property if:
NB - Personal injury and belongings are not covered. The client is therefore responsible to obtain his or her own travel insurance.
Vehicles are currently allowed to travel within South Africa and by prior arrangement in writing to Lesotho & Swaziland and by prior arrangement and a fee for travel into Namibia.
If you wish to take the vehicle across the border then a cross border refundable deposit applies and the excess is doubled. This needs to be arranged in advance so that we can sort out all the documentation for you. A cross border letter and approval documentation must be obtained prior to the Rental crossing any border with the vehicle, the cost of issuing which the Renter will be liable for.
Travel into Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia & Zimbabwe or any other country is currently not allowed.
Vehicles are only permitted to cross the specific borders listed in the cross border letter. No other counties are allowed.
All fees levied by the border authorities are for the responsibility of the renter.
Cape Town Campers have the right at any time to restrict travel in certain areas due to adverse weather conditions, political circumstances or for any other reasons as deemed fit.
A valid non-endorsed full driver's licence held for a minimum of 2 years is required (must be in English) - international licence is preferred.
It is the drivers responsibility to ensure that he/she carries their drivers licence with them at all times whilst driving. This is a legal requirement in South Africa.
Copies of all drivers license(s) must be submitted to Cape Town Campers when booking and originals available for inspection on vehicle pick-up.
The standard minimum rental is 7 days unless otherwise agreed with Cape Town Campers. The number of rental days are calculated on a 24 hour cycle basis.
During office hours, we deliver and pick-up our vehicles for free to any location in Cape Town, Cape Town International Airport, Somerset West, Strand, Stellenbosch and Gordons Bay.
A fee may be charged for pick-up and drop offs outside of these locations and/or outside of office hours, over weekends or on public holidays.
SA Clients: A full valid South African I.D. document is required for all bookings made by South African citizens or a full valid passport may be used.
International Clients: A valid passport is required, which must include a visa for the full length of the rental.
Cape Town Camper reserves the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, toll fees, associated administration costs and / or accidents including third party vehicle / property damage not reported on the return of the vehicle plus an administration fee of R350 per case.
200KM per day is included in the daily rental rate. Additional KMs will be billed at a rate of R7/KM.
The insurance excess can only be paid by embossed credit card (the amount will be locked on the card and the amount will have to be authorised by the bank).
The excess hold will be released by Cape Town Campers within 5 working days (South Africa) or 7 working days (any other location) of the return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, at the agreed time with no damage incurred to the vehicle or third party vehicle / property.
The minimum age of hirers shall be 25 years old and the maximum age shall be 65 years old.
Safe speeds are 80-100 Km/h, but must be adjusted to suit the road and weather conditions. At no time must a speed of 120 Km/h be exceeded.
Vehicles are allowed to travel on any properly tarred surface. Good smooth gravel and sand roads are also permitted.
There are areas that are not allowed for driving whatsoever including: the Swartberg Pass (SA), the Sani Pass (SA), Kalahari Gemsbok Park (Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park), the road to the Sentech Towers in Marakele Park (SA), Baviaanskloof Pass (SA), 4x4 trails, the Skeleton Coast Park (Namibia), the short road from Hobas to the Viewpoint (Fish River Canyon), Van Zyl's Pass (Namibia), Sandwich Harbour (Namibia), Kaokoland (Namibia), narrow and steep single lane mountain passes and any road in South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia that do not adhere to the condition of roads as mentioned above.
We also do not take responsibility from damages arising out of fast speeds and long distance driving on washboard / rutted roads (especially D-roads) in Namibia.

Afrikaburn. Due to the quality of the roads, special permission is required to rent a Cape Town Campervan for Afrikaburn. Extra charges may apply.
All our vehicles are covered by full AA FLEETCARE PLUS cover or other Road care policies which is valid 24 hours, 7 days a week in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland. Please contact Cape Town campers for more details if required.
While every vehicle is thoroughly serviced and checked, breakdowns can occur unexpectedly. Any problems with the vehicle or equipment must be reported to Cape Town Campers as soon as possible by phone or email.
Cape Town Campers need to be contacted for authorisation in advance of any repairs. Please settle directly with the supplier unless agreed with Cape Town Camper. Refunds will only be considered for approved repairs and accompanying invoice if the repairs are not as a result of hirer or driver fault or negligence.
Cape Town Campers will not be held responsible for any accommodation costs incurred but clients may at their discretion refund the daily rental rate for any full days lost after a reasonable amount of time has been given for Cape Town Campers to rectify any problems.
The hirer acknowledges that it may not always be possible to attend to repairs over weekends, public holidays and in remote locations.
All equipment including stoves, air-conditioning and fridges are tested prior to rental start and are rented in full working condition. Cape Town Campers can not be held responsible for any failure or malfunction of this equipment during the rental period.
All equipment must be returned in the same condition as at start of rental. No substitution of equipment is permitted.
Report the accident to Cape Town Campers and the Nearest Police Station - All accidents, no matter how minor, must be reported to the nearest police station within 24 hours and police case reference numbers communicated immediately to Cape Town Campers. Hirers may be required to complete a detailed insurance claim form at the end of the hire period. In the event of an accident the hirer is still entirely responsible for the full rental fee together with the payment of the relevant vehicle excess chosen. Failure to report an accident to the nearest police station may result in the claim not being accepted by the insurers and the hirer being responsible for all own vehicle and third party damage.
If the rental vehicle is involved in an accident and is not drivable, a replacement vehicle, if available, may be collected from Cape Town Campers. If the hirer requires a replacement vehicle to be delivered, then these charges will be payable by the hirer. None of the excess reduction options cover this eventuality.
The hirer is responsible for the recovery of the damaged vehicle to the original rental depot.
The hirer is entirely responsible for all costs of repairs and/or replacement as per the excess option chosen.
If the hirer is unable or unwilling to take a replacement vehicle, no refunds for early termination of the contract will apply.
No refund of rental days lost will be considered during the period in which a replacement vehicle is being organised.
Should there be no replacement vehicle available, no refund for lost days will be considered.
Should the hirer continue with a replacement vehicle then a new rental contract and insurance conditions will apply.
Insurance does not cover damage to the interior of the vehicle or loss or breakage of equipment unless as a result of an accident. All equipment and accessories supplied shall be returned (fair wear and tear excluded) upon completion of the hire.
Damage, as a result of negligence, to the suspension or any undercarriage fittings and / or exhaust system, other than fair wear and tear, will also be for the hirers account.
Damage to the vehicle not as a result of a reportable and reported accident and covered under the insurance policy remains the responsibility hirer. The hirer will be responsible for all damages to' or loss of, equipment in or affixed to the vehicle.
In order to keep our vehicles pleasant for all of our customers, we do not allow smoking inside. Smoking inside a Cape Town Camper vehicle imposes a R2000 penalty to cover deep cleaning of the vehicle.
No refund of the rental fee will be made if the vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever prior to the end of the rental period.
Cape Town Campers reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle should the requested vehicle not be available due to unforeseen circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund.
Client Cancellation

Cancellations must be made by the Customer in writing to Cape Town Campers.
To ensure cover in the event of not being able to travel or use the booking it is recommended that the hirer obtain his or her own travel insurance in advance.
In general the South African banks will only allow a refund to be processed back to the account where they were paid from. This is to prevent fraud and money laundering.
There may be variations according to season or event. Any such variations will be sent to you via email at time of booking and will be reflected in the contract that you will need to sign.

Illustrations and text in any of Cape Town Camper's brochures / advertisements are only a representation of the vehicle depicted. Variances in the vehicle(s) offered for rental could occur due to modifications and / or upgrades to the vehicle design.
